Norway: Norwegian Summer Cruise - The Classic Voyage North

Watch the exquisite landscape transform before you

As the ship makes its way north from Bergen to Kirkenes, winding its way along the magnificent coast of Norway, it will dock at a total of 34 seaside towns and remote fishing villages. A Norwegian summer cruise is particularly scenic at this time of year as the valleys are lush and green and the sky is a brilliant blue. The brightly coloured wooden buildings of the coastal settlements gleam in the brilliant sunshine against a backdrop of towering mountains. Once we reach the Arctic on the Norwegian summer cruise you will get the chance to go ashore and take advantage of some of the fascinating optional tours and excursions that are available, perhaps seeing some of Norway’s wildlife or learning about the culture and traditions of the indigenous people.

Hurtigruten ships are used for these fjord cruises of Norway, a service that has been running for many years. Originally operating as a vital means of connecting the remote settlements, the ships are now used by both locals and holidaymakers on a Norwegian cruise in summer and the year round. Head out onto the ship’s observation deck and gaze in wonder as the coastal scenery slowly begins to transform with each nautical mile that you sail. Read on to discover the fascinating destinations that a Norwegian summer cruise will take you to.
