Iceland : Iceland and the Northern Lights
This short break in Iceland blends the exploration of natural wonders with a tour of the lively city of Reykjavik. Iceland is filled with a vast array of flora and fauna with much wildlife inhabiting the island and the sea around such as whales, many species of bird and seals. The itinerary of this holiday is shaped to give guests a good opportunity to spot the Northern Lights while still seeing some of the most famous sights in Iceland in a short space of time. The best time to look for Mother Nature’s famous Aurora Borealis is from October to March. We take you far away from the artificial light that occupies Reykjavik to give you the best chance to be enthralled by this exciting natural wonder.

The Search for the Northern Lights

Today we embark on a sightseeing tour and are driven south to Gullfoss to see the incredible waterfalls. Also today the hot springs of the Geysir area are visited whose erupting nature always enchants many guests. The Pingvellir National Park is explored today as well, which was established in 1930 to help conserve the remains of the world’s oldest parliament and the natural wonders in the same area. In the evening we travel away from as much light pollution as possible as we go in search for the Northern Lights. We are driven under the night sky in a super jeep in anticipation of the blue, green, yellow and pinkish hues dancing across the night sky. While no guarantee that you will see the Aurora Borealis can be made, we give you the best conditions to see it should it appear. After our search for this spectacular natural phenomenon we have a seafood supper at a cosy, intimate restaurant on the south coast.
